Van Riemsdyk will not play in Game 6

Published May. 27, 2015 2:35 p.m. ET

Despite his recent call up, it doesn't appear that Trevor Van Riemsdyk will get a sweater for Game 6.

The rookie defenseman hasn't played for the Blackhawks since Nov. 16.

Van Riemsdyk appeared in 18 games for Chicago this year before going through a slew of injuries. A knee injury kept him out of the lineup for several months, then Van Riemsdyk's return was further delayed after wrist surgery.

The Blackhawks are a little desperate for blue line options, especially within the third pairing. They aren't, however, desperate enough to thrust a rookie who hasn't played in six months into the lineup
