Todd Haley likes the challenge presented by Steelers injuries

The mounting injury toll for the Pittsburgh Steelers isn't taking its toll on offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Instead, Haley seems to enjoy the challenge of filling in the gaps and overcoming adversity.

Ben Roethlisberger has missed four games, as have running back Le'Veon Bell and left tackle Kelvin Beachum, both of whom are out for the season. Receiver Martavis Bryant was suspended for four games and Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey has yet to play this season after breaking his leg in the preseason. That loss of star power would usually set back a team drastically, but the Steelers enter the bye at 6-4 and sixth in the league in total offense.

“As coaches, we relish that,” Haley said per Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “It is fun, but I would take the alternative of having all of our guys healthy and playing ... you take it as a challenge and we’re happy with a lot of what we did, but obviously we feel like we could have a couple back and that would’ve made us even happier."

The bye week comes at a perfect time for the Steelers. A trip to Seattle awaits, and Roethlisberger has an extra week to get his foot injury healed up.
