Mario Chalmers actually went head-to-head with Russell Westbrook

Hot-take question: Is Mario Chalmers the best point guard in the league?

OK, fine. He's not. But he has been on fire ever since arriving in Memphis last week. Once an enemy of the entire city because of the game-tying shot the Kansas alum hit against Memphis at the end of regulation in the 2008 National Championship game, Chalmers has changed his local rep in three games. Legitimately three games.

Chalmers is averaging 18.7 points per game in only 20.3 minutes a night as a member of the Grizzlies, hitting seven of his 12 three-point attempts in the process. Not bad for a guy who it only took Beno Udrih to get.

No game was more impressive than Monday night's against the Thunder, when Rio went for 29 points in only 23 minutes. Russell Westbrook matched him and then some, going for 40 points and 14 assists.

The highlights are well worth checking out:

Those Westbrook jumpers are just disgusting. Dude had 40 points and 19 shots and continues to have the most efficient season of his career. The fact that Chalmers even came close to matching him is impressive just on its own.
