LeBron to host boy with brain tumor through Make-A-Wish foundation
LeBron James is only attending USA Basketball's Las Vegas minicamp this week for a single day, due to charitable commitments he made well in advance.
We now know what at least one of those commitments involves.
"A 9-year-old boy from rural Arkansas who is suffering from a brain tumor will fly here this week to shoot some hoops with his idol, LeBron James."
"Brenten Cox, from Ravenden Springs, Ark., a town of 118 people in the Ozark Mountains, was diagnosed with a tumor on his brain stem on June 2, according to local reports. Cox will reportedly hang out with the Cavaliers superstar James on Tuesday, thanks to the Make-A-Wish and LeBron James Family foundations."
"James did not want to publicize his day with the suffering child. A spokeswoman would not even confirm the planned meeting to the Northeast Ohio Media Group."
Players do things like this all the time, and they don't always make it into the news. Many of them don't do it for the headlines, but fans are interested in the positive things their favorite players are doing for those less fortunate.
