Kevin Garnett hits another major milestone

Kevin Garnett has been playing a long time. A long, long time. It's to the point that when he hits milestones, some of them are purely impressive only because he's been around for so long.

From the Timberwolves' official Twitter account:

Not only did KG become the fifth player to reach 50,000 regular season minutes Sunday against the Grizzlies, but he also passed Elvin Hayes, who played exactly 50,000 minutes during his career. How cool is that, for you fans of round numbers out there?

Next up on the list: Jason Kidd, who sits at 50,111, only 105 minutes ahead of KG's now 50,006. Garnett has averaged 16.0 minutes a night so far this season. If he continues that average for the next few weeks (and sits out half of the Wolves' sole remaining back-to-back in November), that would put Garnett on track to pass Kidd during Minnesota's game against Orlando on Dec. 1.

Nos. 1 and 2 on the list are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (57,446) and Karl Malone (54,852), respectively.
