Get use to seeing South Carolina and North Carolina meet on the gridiron as the two schools announced a renewal of the border state series on the eve of their Thursday Belk College Kickoff Classic in Charlotte.

The next two installments of the series will take place in 2019 and 2023, both games will take place in Charlotte.

“On the eve of this year's matchup, we are delighted to announce two more games are scheduled for the future,” said South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner via an issued statement. “This is a great game for the student-athletes and fans at each school to kick off the football season.”

“We are extremely excited to announce that these great games will be played in Charlotte,” said Will Webb, Executive Director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. “This is a tremendous rivalry that will be played in one of the best stadiums in the United States.

“This also adds great value for ticket purchasers for the 2015 Belk College Kickoff Game on Thursday,” Webb added. “Fans who purchase tickets to see UNC vs. USC this year will be given early access to purchase tickets for all of the future college games organized by the Charlotte Sports Foundation.”

Great to see SEC and ACC teams agreeing to these non-conference contests, especially considering the close proximity the two schools share, making it easy for fans to attend. Hopefully more teams take similar approaches in the coming seasons, which will only lead to more great college football.
