Darling leads with 19, UAB overpowers Chattanooga 89-47 (Nov 13, 2017)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Nate Darling scored 19 points, Zack Bryant and Jalen Perry added 17 apiece and UAB muscled past Chattanooga pounding the ball inside for an 89-47 win Monday night.

The Blazers (2-0) outscored Chattanooga 42-16 in the paint, held a 51-22 rebounding edge, including 35 defensive rebounds, and had 10 steals.

Darling was 7-of-11 shooting and had a pair of steals, Bryant was 4 of 6 from the floor and made 8 of 9 free throws. Chris Cokley scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds for his second double-double in as many games. Perry's 17 points were a career high.

David Jean-Baptiste led the Mocs (0-2) with 12 points and Makale Foreman added 11. Chattanooga shot just 35 percent (19-54) against the Blazers.

UAB jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never trailed, with Darling scoring the first points 30 seconds in and Cokley following with a tip-in after a Darling miss. The Blazers led 43-21 at halftime.
