Arkansas State beat Arkansas-Monticello 104-71

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) Devin Carter scored 20 and Donte Thomas finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to help Arkansas State beat Arkansas-Monticello 104-71 Saturday night.

Kelvin Downs added 16 points, Nouhoum Boucoum scored 14 points and Sean Gardner had 11 with six assists for Arkansas State (3-6).

The Red Wolves scored their most points since a 116-114 win over Arkansas-Little Rock in four overtimes on March 14, 2014.

Carter made a pair of free throws and Thomas hit a layup to make it 38-25 lead with 4:22 left in the first half and Arkansas State led by double figures the rest of the way.

The Boll Weevils made just 20 of 63 (31.7 percent) field goals while Arkansas State shot 55.7 percent (34 of 61) and made more free throws (31) than Arkansas-Monticello attempted (30).

Richard Benedyth led Division II Arkansas-Monticello with 18 points.
