Texas A&M-South Carolina rivalry trophy could honor Alamo hero

According to GoGamecocks.com, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley have collaborated in developing the prize the schools will play for each year. What they decided on was a bronze sculpture of James Bonham, a South Carolina student who would become a Texas hero at the Battle of the Alamo.
Katon Dawson, former chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, told GoGamecocks.com that the trophy of Bonham on a horse will be unveiled at a party the night before the game. The schools have not made any announcement about it yet.
"We're mixing politics, football and history," Dawson said.
The rivalry may not ever become what the Lone Star Showdown was with the Longhorns, but the Aggies' new battle with the Gamecocks is just the beginning of many new great Texas A&M traditions to come in the SEC.
