Kevin Durant is not only one of the best players in the NBA, but he’s also one of the nicest guys in sports.
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar, along with actor Kevin Hart and St. Louis Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin, called a 13-year-old boy named Mikka last week to wish him a speedy recovery after he underwent brain surgery, according to a report by TMZ Sports.
"Before they called, his energy level was low," the boy’s father told TMZ. "But those guys really picked him up. They actually brought a smile to his face.
"Mikka didn’t believe it. When Kevin Durant called I said, ‘It’s really K.D.’ "
Austin is a relative of Mikka and will do whatever it takes to lift his spirits.
"I was happy to call Mikka when I found out he was having major surgery," Austin said. "He’s my family (cousins). I watched Mikka as an infant. He’s a tough kid."
Eveyone at school was already going to be glad to see Mikka back, but his father told TMZ that he also "can’t wait to tell all of his friends" his favorite basketball player called him.
