A goalkeeper from the Tercera (Third) Division in Chile has been handed a four-year ban from the sport after he kicked an opponent in the head last weekend, breaking the victim's jaw in three places and sending him to the hospital, according to reports in Chile.

Video of the incident, which occurred last Sunday, emerged of General Velázquez goalkeeper Claudio Abarca kicking Estación Central's Diego Diaz square in the head as Diaz was prone in front of goal. You can watch video of the kick below, but beware that it's a bit graphic.

Diaz was taken off the pitch, loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital following the kick. Abarca was immediately sent off and detained by police, spending the night in jail. Following the attack, the National Amateur Football Association (ANFA) of Chile handed down a four-year suspension for Abarca.

Diaz is expected to recover from the attack, but reportedly cannot return to play until next year.
