Michael Phelps breaks out game face again for 'Call of Duty' trailer

Michael Phelps may have retired from swimming, but he's still retaining his competitive edge.

The most decorated Olympian of all time has traded in his swim cap for a pair of firearms, appearing as a video game version of himself in the trailer for the upcoming "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." In the clip, the 23-time gold medalist does his signature arm flap before taking aim at the enemy, and directs his now-infamous "Phelps face" at "Vice Principals" actor Danny McBride.

Phelps, an avid CoD player, said he jumped at the chance to appear in the trailer: "We were in full getup and full armor," the 31-year-old told Time magazine. "Danny and I were just playing off each other, talking trash. It was really tough to keep a straight face with him just firing off super funny comments left and right. It was fun. The spots in the past have been incredible, and being able to work with him was awesome."

Indeed, the Call of Duty spots of yore have been known to feature key sports players. Like this one for Black-Ops in 2010, which featured Jimmy Kimmel and Kobe Bryant:

"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" will be released on Nov. 4.
