Vikings Snap Counts: Treadwell takes off

Published Oct. 17, 2017 1:14 p.m. ET

Laquon Treadwell is finally starting to play like a first-round pick.

The second-year receiver submitted a Catch of the Year candidate Sunday during the Minnesota Vikings' 23-10 win over the Green Bay Packers …

Treadwell timed his leap perfectly, slowing down to nab the underthrown ball and using his body to shield the ball from cornerback Josh Hawkins, before turning upfield and motoring ahead for a few more yards.

He finished a perfect 3-for-3 on targets on the afternoon, gaining 51 yards, the most productive game of his young career.

While Treadwell has been getting plenty of snaps this season -- he peaked at 77 percent in Week 1 and has yet to drop below 40 percent -- he has taken a backseat to Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs early on.

However, he doubled his year-long receiving totals Sunday after racking up just 42 yards on six receptions through the first five games of the season.

Other notes from Sunday’s snap counts:

-- Jeremiah Sirles got the start at left guard in place of Nick Easton, who is nursing a calf injury. Sirles had previously appeared on just 14 snaps this season.

-- Running back Jerick McKinnon out-snapped Latavius Murray once again, but the latter closed the gap a bit this week. McKinnon had an 11-snap edge, but had just one more carry than Murray. McKinnon was more effective, however, racking up 69 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while Murray gained just 28 yards on 15 carries.

-- Michael Floyd was expected to play a major role with Diggs out, but had just one catch for five yards despite appearing on 49 percent of their offensive snaps.

-- Anthony Harris started at strong safety with Andrew Sendejo out. He was on the field for all 66 defensive snaps, joining linebacker Eric Kendricks, cornerback Xavier Rhodes and fellow safety Harrison Smith as defenders who didn't miss a play.
