Sign of the times: As Browns falter, fans let loose in hilarious ways

You have to hand it to Cleveland Browns fans … despite another miserable season by the home team, they still manage to keep their humor.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have LeBron James to cheer for to help make getting out of bed the morning after another Browns bummer a little easier.

On Monday night, it all came to a head at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland -- a ridiculous loss by the Browns, lots of love for LeBron, demoted Johnny Manziel staying on the bench after starter Josh McCown got hurt -- and the result was an impressive display of signs in the stands.

While the Browns’ stunning defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, on a blocked field-goal attempt with the game tied returned for the winning score with no time left on the clock, there were plenty of winners in the crowd.

Of course, there was the old reliable in Cleveland in the image at the top of the page: the bag over the head.

And while the Browns franchise and not its troubled second-year quarterback were the target of the fans’ ire, more than one hound in the Dawg Pound used Manziel’s recent partying that landed him on the bench as their punchlines. Here are three Manziel signs spotted in the crowd:

Mind you, Manziel last offseason did a stint in alcohol rehab. And after he was caught on video during the Browns' bye week partying with alcohol, he was demoted to third string and gave way to Austin Davis when McCown went down against the Ravens.

More crass than class? Sure. But after more than 50 years without a professional championship of any kind, the people in Cleveland probably don’t worry too much about political correctness.

And alas, the reason why Clevelanders can keep their sense of humor while also taking a dig at their most lovable losers:

The King, indeed.
