Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has yet to resume throwing since suffering a fractured right thumb, but he insists it's by choice.

"Not throwing yet because we are being very conservative with it," Dalton told the Bengals official team website. "I feel like I can throw but no reason to push anything right now. I have plenty of time now to get 100 percent."

Dalton was injured attempting to make a tackle in the first quarter of a 33-20 loss to Pittsburgh in Week 14. The Bengals entered that contest with a 10-2 record but two losses in their final four games cost them a first-round bye before they dropped an 18-16 decision to the Steelers in a opening round of the playoffs.

The 28-year-old Dalton was in the midst of his finest season, throwing for 25 touchdowns versus only seven interceptions while posting a career-best quarterback rating of 106.3.
