Editor’s note: On weekdays from Dec. 1 to Dec. 16, FOX Sports will be counting down the 12 wildest rides of 2016.

If you’re ever unfortunate enough to suffer a barrel-roll during a motor race, you should at least hope that you got a good number on the board.

Brendon Pingel scored a fairly decent 6 during an Aussie Racing Car Series race at Queensland Raceway back in July.

The defending champion was running in the middle of the field on a restart at “the paperclip” in Australia, when contact with another car sent him rolling six times through the grass.

While barrel-rolls look impressive, truth is that the drivers usually walk out of them OK as all of the bodywork being torn off the car is dissipating the energy. Such was the case for Pingel, although his car was definitely looking worse for wear by the time the ordeal was over.

However, incredibly, the team was able to get his car repaired and have it back out on the track the next day.
