Julio Rodríguez - Benefitting from move down orderRodriguez, who's reached safely in all four games since being moved out of the leadoff spot, may be more relaxed without the pressure of hitting out of the top of the order, James...
ImpactRodriguez was slashing a paltry .204/.266/.387 in 155 plate appearances out of the leadoff spot before Servais opted to switch him to sixth in the order for Wednesday's series finale against the Rangers, a game in which he went 1-for-4 with a run. The Mariners skipper then bumped Rodriguez up to the No. 3 hole in the lineup for two of the three games in the weekend set against the Tigers and the cleanup spot for the other contest in the series. Rodriguez responded by going 4-for-12 with a home run, five RBI, two walks, a stolen base and four total runs versus Detroit, perhaps snapping him out of his extended funk for the time being. Servais emphasized he'll maintain a flexible approach with Rodriguez's lineup placement for now, and continued success in spots other than the leadoff role will likely keep closer to the middle of the order.

Teoscar Hernández - Swipes bag in lossHernandez went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.
ImpactHernandez knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly in the third and grabbed his second steal of the year following an infield hit in the fifth. It's been a struggle for the 30-year-old in his inaugural season with the Mariners. He's taken just five walks in 168 plate appearances and is second in the league with 58 strikeouts. Hernandez hit .267 a season ago which was his lowest mark since 2019 but is currently slashing just .229/.268/.414 with eight homers, 20 RBI and 17 runs scored this year.

Logan Gilbert - Allows three in no decisionGilbert did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings against the Tigers. He struck out four.
ImpactGilbert allowed a run in the opening frame, another one in the third and then couldn't quite make it through the sixth after Andy Ibanez doubled off him with two outs. Trevor Gott allowed the inherited runner to score before he was able to close out the inning. Gilbert wasn't as effective as usual Sunday. He allowed 10 hard hit balls and had a season-low four strikeouts while just missing out on a third consecutive quality start against one of the weaker offenses in the league. Still, Gilbert has allowed three runs or less in six of his eight starts on the year and will take a 3.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 54:9 K:BB into his next projected start against Atlanta.
