Two Rays pitching prospects named to Futures Game

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Two Tampa Bay Rays prospects were selected for the All-Star Futures Game.

Left-hander Enny Romero and right-hander Taylor Guerrieri were chosen to participate in the event, to be held on July 14 at 2 p.m. at Citi Field. Romero will play for the World team and Guerrieri the U.S. squad.

Romero, a member of Double-A Montgomery, is a second-time invitee, joining Desmond Jennings, Delmon Young and B.J. Upton as the lone players in the Rays organization to be named to the team twice. (Romero was part of the event last year in Kansas City.) He is 7-3 with a 2.92 ERA in 16 starts for the Biscuits this season.

Meanwhile, Guerrieri, a member of Class A Bowling Green, is 5-2 with a 2.29 ERA in 12 starts for the Hot Rods this season.
