It's a who's who of Detroit Lions not playing Thursday in the final preseason game at Buffalo.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford, receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, running back Reggie Bush and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, along with several other starters, will be taking the night off to rest up and avoid injury.

The Lions open the regular season in 11 days -- September 8 -- against the New York Giants on a Monday night at Ford Field.

The absence of the starters Thursday means that players fighting for the last few roster spots will be front and center for the Lions, who are facing their former coach, Jim Schwartz, now the defensive coordinator for the Bills.
