The Red Wings on Thursday announced an open-skate program at the Joe. Four one-hour sessions -- 11 a.m. until noon; noon until 1 p.m.; 7 p.m until 8 p.m.; and 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. -- will be held Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 24-26.

Mandatory preregistration for all sessions is open at www.DetroitRedWings.com/OpenSkate and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

BYOK (bring your own skates). Admission and parking at Joe Louis Arena's Riverfront lot are free.

Don't try to be like Dats, though. Sticks and pucks are not permitted on the ice during any of the skating sessions.
