Peverley back at Stars game, and everyone stands up for him

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:06 p.m. ET

Rich Peverley returned to American Airlines Center in Dallas on Friday night, giving Stars fans a chance to show their thanks that he was OK and their appreciation to the medical professionals who saved his life after he collapsed on the bench with a cardiac problem on Monday.

The crowd stood and applauded when Peverley was shown on the video screen, watching from a suite at the arena. His teammates banged their sticks on the boards. He joined the applause for the Stars training staff and UT Southwestern Medical Center doctors who attended to Peverley, who has an irregular heartbeat. He will miss the rest of the season, and his hockey future is in doubt.

Though the Stars lost Friday night, Peverley is an inspirational figure for the fans.
