Penguins star C Malkin misses second straight game
Evgeni Malkin is sitting out his second straight game because of a leg injury the Pittsburgh Penguins' star center sustained four days earlier.
Malkin missed a matchup against the New York Rangers on Wednesday night. He was also sidelined Monday when the Penguins beat Toronto. He is expected to sit out against Minnesota on Thursday, too, Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said.
Malkin, third in the NHL with 41 points this season, hurt his left leg at Detroit on Saturday. He lost his balance when he came together with Red Wings center Luke Glendening in the third period, and his left skate rammed into the boards. Malkin kept his left foot up as he was helped off the ice.
The Penguins were also without injured defensemen Kris Letang, Rob Scuderi, Paul Martin, and Brooks Orpik, and suspended defenseman Deryk Engelland, who received a five-game ban Wednesday.
