NHL suspends Flyers' Carcillo for two games

Published May. 17, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Flyers forward Dan Carcillo has been suspended without pay or the first two games of next season for confronting officials during this year's playoffs.

NHL senior vice president Mike Murphy announced the ruling Tuesday. Carcillo acknowledged during a hearing that he regrets his actions.

The league says Carcillo ''engaged in aggressive behavior and inappropriate conduct directed at the officials'' between the first and second periods of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston.

Carcillo also confronted linesman Brian Murphy at the Flyers' bench and argued with him before the start of the second period.
