Former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque has been hired as executive director of the fledgling Canadian Hockey League Players' Association.
Laraque announced Tuesday on his Twitter account that he was ''proud'' to accept the role.
Laraque spent three years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League - winning a Memorial Cup with the Granby Predateurs in 1996 - before moving on to a NHL career that spanned 695 games.
His playing career ended in 2010.
