The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Jeff Carter on injured reserve because of a separated shoulder sustained on Sunday.
Carter, a major offseason acquisition by the Blue Jackets, is listed as week to week.
The 27-year-old has 10 goals and seven assists in 30 games. He leads the club in power-play goals with five and is second in goals and fifth in points despite missing 10 games with a broken bone in his foot.
In 491 career NHL games, he has 191 goals and 169 assists with 300 penalty minutes for Columbus and Philadelphia.
