Canadiens' White ineligible, removed from game

Published Dec. 13, 2009 4:16 a.m. ET

Montreal forward Ryan White was ruled ineligible and removed from the Canadiens' game against the Ottawa Senators in the first period on Tuesday night.

White was recalled from Hamilton of the AHL earlier Tuesday, but the Canadiens neglected to inform the NHL about the roster move.

The rookie right winger played four shifts for a total of 3:13 before he was removed from the Canadiens' 4-1 victory. Had the Canadiens scored while White was on the ice, the goal would have been voided.

``I was informed that he was ineligible to play, so we just continued with 11 forwards,'' Canadiens coach Jacques Martin said.
