Bylsma lets cat out of the bag on new Buffalo assistants

BY foxsports • June 18, 2015

New coach Dan Bylsma is taking charge in Buffalo, and that much was obvious on Thursday morning when he let slip who would fill out his coaching staff before the team could issue a press release later in the day.

Buffalo will add assistant coaches Terry Murray and Dave Barr to Bylsma's staff. Murray, uncle of Buffalo general manager Tim Murray, previously served as a head coach for the Capitals, Flyers, Panthers and Kings. He served as the head coach for Philadelphia's AHL affiliate for the last three years.

"He’s coached with and under some other great coaches in other great systems, organizations," Bylsma told reporters about Murray. "Terry’s bringing that to our team. I think it’s going to be a huge part of our development for our players, especially our defensemen."

Barr was an assistant coach for the Devils for the last four seasons. He is also an NHL veteran and played in 614 games with seven different teams.

Bylsma and the Sabres did not say whether the team will keep goaltending coach Arturs Irbe, who was hired by former Sabres coach Ted Nolan.
