Yzmerman wanted a general manager position within Detroit, but simply couldn't wait after extensions were signed by both general manager Ken Holland and assistant general manager Jim Nill. So, he built a powerhouse in a much, much warmer environment. The former Red Wing great would love nothing more than to see his team beat up on a dynasty he helped create.
