Yzmerman wanted a general manager position within Detroit, but simply couldn't wait after extensions were signed by both general manager Ken Holland and assistant general manager Jim Nill. So, he built a powerhouse in a much, much warmer environment. The former Red Wing great would love nothing more than to see his team beat up on a dynasty he helped create. But the Red Wings aren't just satisfied with their 24th straight playoff appearance. They want to continue on the rich tradition of adding hardware to their collection in June.
