The New England Patriots already have two great tight ends in Rob Gronkowski and Scott Chandler, but adding another was in the cards on Tuesday.

According to CSNBayArea.com, the San Francisco 49ers have traded tight end Asante Cleveland to the Patriots. Both teams have a big group of tight ends on the roster, but it appears as though the Patriots wanted to add to their depth chart.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Patriots sent guard Jordan Devey to San Francisco in return. Devey started four games for the Patriots last season, his first year in the NFL.

Cleveland was an undrafted rookie in 2014 out of the University of Miami. He played in six games for the 49ers last season but failed to record a catch. In the 49ers' first preseason game, he caught three passes for 10 yards in just 11 snaps on offense.

He was listed as the fourth-string tight end in San Francisco, behind Vernon Davis, Vance McDonald, and Garrett Celek.
