Spurs' Popovich would last 'about a month' coaching 76ers
Gregg Popovich is the best coach in basketball, but apparently he's also the least patient. When asked by the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey about the Philadelphia 76ers and their ongoing, never-ending rebuild -- this time under coach Brett Brown -- the Spurs legend didn't mince words:
"I'd last about a month," Popovich said. "And he, honest to God, loves coaching that team."
Once you've tasted the level of success Popovich has (on five separate occasions), it's impossible to go back down to the bottom of the league and know each night that you have about a 3.5 percent chance of walking away with a win.
Brown comes from Popovich's coaching tree, but clearly they're cut from a different cloth. Philadelphia remains the NBA's only winless team this season at 0-10. The 76ers have lost 20 straight games as a franchise.
