Jimmy Butler wants to play some point guard next season

Jimmy Butler said he hopes to improve the on-court chemistry he shares with Derrick Rose, which seems particularly important after a rumored rift appeared to exist between the two near the end of last season.

Spending time at the position that Rose plays wouldn't seem to be the best way to go about doing that.

Butler has been working on improving his game, however, and hopes to play a little point guard next season in order to attack offensively in an even more effective way.

“First off, I think I am a point guard,” Butler said without joking, via Sam Smith of Bulls.com. “So I’ve done a heck of a lot of ball screen work, ball handling, getting into the paint and still handling, floaters, all that stuff point guards do. If I get a chance, high pick and roll more. I want some triple doubles. I’ve got to get my handle right so I can pass and get it to guys where they can make shots. I told Fred. You ask what position I play, I say point guard.”

"I want to show I can get better from last year to this year. That’s my goal, continue to get better every year like I have."

All kidding aside, Butler's newfound affinity for playing with the ball in his hands will work just fine alongside Rose. Butler's playmaking will cause more havoc for opposing defenses to deal with, and Rose playing off the ball some will allow him to attack in ways that should make Chicago even more formidable next season.
