Cirque du Soleil turns Dodger Stadium into circus

LOS ANGELES (AP) The circus is coming to Dodger Stadium.

Cirque du Soleil is raising its blue-and-yellow big top at the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the premiere of its latest touring production, ''Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities.''

The 62-foot tent is located in a parking lot closest to the stadium's main gate. It is 168 feet in diameter and seats about 2,600 people. The tent, supported by four masts each 85 feet tall, needs 50 people to raise it. Workers used over 1,200 stakes dug 4 feet deep to hold the air-conditioned tents in place.

It took six days to install the big top, entrance and performer tents, box office, administrative offices, and a kitchen and dining area for cast and crew. The show travels in 65 trailers that carry close to 2,000 tons of equipment.
