Chicago Cubs News: Parade details; Obama extends invitation

Two days ago, the Chicago Cubs took on the Cleveland Indians in Game 7 of the World Series. Both teams were battling it out to see which drought would come to an end. In the end, it was the Cubs flying the W.

Alright, this is the first time we’re able to witness something like this, so here it goes. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Cubs victory parade will take place at 11 a.m. — which is rather exciting.

Not quite sure how the 1908 World Series champs celebrated or even if they had a parade. So let’s go ahead and make it twice the fun. Although, none of us were around when the old school Cubs were playing.

Still, they deserve to be honored. Now, let’s continue. The fact that the Chicago Cubs are World Champions has yet to officially sink in. I often find myself questioning the whole thing only because it feels like a dream.

Sooner or later, I’ll realize that it’s reality. I’m sure some of you are feeling the same way as well. Hopefully, I’m not the only one.

So, obviously, the parade is open to the public. And right now, Cubs fans are currently flooding the streets of Chicago from all over. Surely, flights to the Windy City were booked as soon as the final out was recorded.

The parade will begin at Wrigley Field, at 11 a.m. and make its way through Michigan Avenue/Oak/Ohio streets, then to Columbus Drive/Monroe Street/Balbo Drive.

Victory Rally

Rounding out the final stretch of the parade, will, of course, be the victory rally. This takes place at Lower Hutchinson Field where President Barack Obama held his very own Presidential Celebration back in 2008.

Why not? Speaking of President Obama, the Chicago White Sox fan reached out to the Chicago Cubs via Twitter. Extending an invitation to the recently crowned World Series champions for a White House visit before he leaves.

In eight years, the only Chicago team to win a championship were the Chicago Blackhawks. Obama, aside from being a Sox fan, is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan as well.

There is no way that the Chicago Cubs turn down an opportunity to visit our Nation’s Capital and it not being because of a series against the Nationals. Obama loves the city of Chicago and he has been supporting the Cubs ever since they made it to the postseason.

He didn’t have a choice considering his White Sox failed to make the playoffs, themselves. Boy, does that feel great. Joking. Fans of the South Side have been pulling for the Cubbies which is great to see.

Uniting as a city and being aware that the Cubs winning the World Series could bring more hope. With that being said, it’s time to celebrate.
