3B Reynolds out of D-Backs' starting lineup

Third baseman Mark Reynolds was not in the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers because of a strained right quad, which has bothered him for more than a week.

Reynolds felt some discomfort after running out a single in the ninth inning of Monday's loss, but wasn't replaced for a pinch-runner until he reached second on a wild pitch.

Manager A.J. Hinch said during batting practice that Reynolds would be able to pinch-hit. He entered Tuesday second in the NL in home runs (12) and was tied for second in RBIs (39), but was batting only .225.

Utilityman Rusty Ryal started at third base for the first time in his major league career.
