    News

Joel Embiid scored 34 points Friday, going 11 of 20 from the field, as the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 119-117 in triple overtime. Embiid pulled down eight rebounds and dished out six assists, tallying a plus-minus of +6 in his 48:39 of playing time. He added two blocks.

    Impact

It was great that Embiid scored 34 points in a career-high 48 minutes but he grabbed his lower back when he took a hard foul on a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter. Embiid grimaced during timeouts on the bench and trudged into position a few times. Philly is off until Monday at Chicago so he should be good to go by then.

    News

Embiid scored 34 points (11-20 FG, 0-3 3PT, 12-13 FT) to go with eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks across 49 minutes in Friday's 119-117 triple overtime loss to Oklahoma City.

    Impact

In a test of endurance, Embiid prevailed with a game-high 34 points in Friday's triple-overtime marathon against Oklahoma City. In a career-high 49 minutes, the center labored through lingering back pain a game removed from playing 39 minutes in Tuesday's overtime win against Minnesota. Embiid's gutsy effort secured his seventh straight game of 20 or more points. All of the superb stats aside, Embiid's stamina is the greatest takeaway from what was a spectacular performance against the Thunder.

    News

Embiid (back) will play in Friday's game against the Thunder, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

    Impact

Embiid was added to the injury report Friday morning with lingering lower back soreness, but he is healthy enough to give it a go against OKC. The big man is coming off a strong performance in a win over the Timberwolves on Tuesday, and there has been no report that he will be restricted in any way Friday, so expect a full dose of minutes from Embiid.

    News

Embiid will play in Friday's tilt versus the Thunder despite having been listed as questionable because of back tightness.

    Impact

It's the same issue which caused him to miss both of Philadelphia's games last weekend, though he came back Tuesday to post 28 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in 39 minutes.

    News

Embiid is considered questionable for Friday's game against the Thunder due to back tightness, Derek Bodner of The Athletic reports.

    Impact

Embiid has been bothered by his lower back in recent days, and it certainly played a role in the Sixers scratching him from Sunday's game in New Orleans. Embiid returned to action Tuesday in Minnesota and did not appear to be hampered, finishing with 28 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and a block in 39 minutes of action. Look for the Sixers to offer a more concrete update on his status closer to game-time. In the event that Embiid sits, Richaun Holmes would be in line for increased minutes.
