The Vikings needed an explosive play to keep pace with the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, and Cordarrelle Patterson delivered. After Minnesota fell behind by a point in the first half, Patterson scooped up a bouncing kickoff and returned it 93 yards for a touchdown.

The Vikings have leaned quite a bit on their special teams of late. In a Week 8 win over the Bears, Marcus Sherels had a key 65-yard punt return touchdown. Mike Priefer has turned his units into serious point producers since taking over as Minnesota's special teams coordinator in 2011.
Since Mike Priefer became #SpecialTeams coordinator in 2011, the #Vikings lead the NFL with 10 ST TDs.

Patterson, a 2013 first-round pick, has struggled to find a role on offense, but his value as a return specialist is still apparent. He was an All-Pro kick returner as a rookie in 2013, when he scored two return touchdowns. His 93-yard score against the Raiders was his first kick-return touchdown since that season.
