Texans add Brandon Weeden into QB mix

BY foxsports • November 19, 2015

With Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer not expected to play this week after suffering a concussion in Monday night's win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the team added depth at the position in former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Brandon Weeden.

Per the Houston Chronicle, the Texans were awarded Weeden on waivers Wednesday. To make room for the four-year veteran, Houston released cornerback Jumal Rolle.

Weeden started three games for the Cowboys this season, but was released earlier in the week with the return of starting quarterback Tony Romo from a broken collarbone. Weeden was 0-3 as a starter for Dallas this year.

The 32-year-old Weeden was a first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2012. He'll backup T.J. Yates if Hoyer is unable to play Sunday agains the New York Jets.
