Put the breakout on hold: Eagles TE Zach Ertz still running with second-team offense

The Zach Ertz hype train is in full force again this offseason, but it will have to come a stoppage for now. After training all offseason to improve his blocking, Ertz remains behind incumbent starter Brent Celek on the tight end depth chart.

Through the Eagles' first few training camp practices, Ertz is practicing with the second-team offense once again. Working primarily with backup quarterback Mark Sanchez, Eagles beat reporter Jeff McLane noted that Ertz has made highlight-reel catches on at least three separate occasions in practice so far, per the Philadelphia Daily Inquirer.

The Eagles run a lot of three-wide-receiver formations, and Ertz's snaps are unlikely to increase unless he can beat out Celek on the depth chart. Earlier this week, Celek mentioned that the offense needs Ertz, but that doesn't mean he's going to give up his starting job without a fight.
