Lions DT on Caldwell, losing: 'It's like disappointing your father'
Losses cut deep for Jim Caldwell's Detroit Lions, and there have been plenty of them this year. The Lions are 0-5 this season, and each individual loss has come with its own separate sting.
This can't make Caldwell very happy.
During an "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) on Reddit, Lions defensive tackle Caraun Reid answered a question on this topic when one of the site's users asked him how Caldwell is when he's angry. Reid's response sheds some light on the respect he has for his head coach.
"It's like disappointing your father," Reid wrote. "He doesn't yell, but because [he] takes care of you and provides an opportunity for you to be successful. You feel like you let your dad down. Like, 'I'm not angry, and I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed.' It's nothing over the top."
Reid, a fifth-round pick out of Princeton in last year's draft, watched Caldwell lead the Lions to an 11-5 record and a playoff appearance during his rookie season (he only appeared in three games). This year's poor start hasn't tainted his glowing first impression yet.
The question about Caldwell was just one of many Reid fielded during his Reddit AMA. He also answered questions about his workouts with former Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, which he says led to his "most transformative offseason" and him becoming "a better man."
