Kaepernick aware he must raise his game against nemesis Seahawks

Colin Kaepernick has put together two straight strong outings but looming is a matchup against his biggest nemesis.

Kaepernick helped the San Francisco 49ers snap a four-game losing streak by throwing for 340 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Baltimore Ravens. Up next is a Thursday night game against the Seattle Seahawks, who have shackled Kaepernick in six career meetings.

In the past four regular-season games versus the Seahawks, Kaepernick has been sacked 15 times while throwing one touchdown versus six interceptions. He is 1-5 overall against Seattle with three TDs and nine interceptions while compiling a 54.1 passer rating.

“They’re a good defense,” Kaepernick told reporters Tuesday. “I’m not going to take credit away from them and what they’ve been able to do. I do have to go and perform better.”

Cornerback Richard Sherman has tormented Kaepernick with four interceptions, including a pair in a 19-3 victory on Thanksgiving Day last year - the Seahawks' last visit to the Bay Area.

“They just play their defense,” Kaepernick said. “They’re a very good defense. They have been for quite a few years now.”
