Alex Rodriguez was scratched from the New York Yankees' lineup on Sunday night with what the team said was flulike symptoms.

Robinson Cano batted fourth instead of Rodriguez, and Eric Chavez took his place at third base.

The two-time AL MVP had played in all eight of the Yankees' games this season. He was hitting .321 with three homers and five RBIs.
