Published Jun. 5, 2010 1:31 p.m. ET

New York outfielder Marcus Thames has been scratched from the lineup for the Yankees' game against the Blue Jays because of a stiff neck.

Kevin Russo replaced Thames in left field Saturday and batted ninth, with catcher Francisco Cervelli and center fielder Brett Gardner each moving up one spot in the order.

A nine-year veteran who also has played for Detroit, Thames is batting .304 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 29 games.

Russo is in his first major league season. He is batting .214 with no homers and four RBIs in 15 games.
