White Sox RHP Nate Jones on 15-day DL with strained hip muscle

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:04 a.m. ET

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chicago White Sox right-hander Nate Jones has been put on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained muscle in his left hip.

Jones allowed four runs without retiring a batter during two relief appearances this season, giving up two hits and walking three. He said he felt discomfort while pitching Thursday and may have aggravated a gluteal strain sustained during spring training.

Jake Petricka was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday to fill the roster spot. He was 1-1 with a 3.26 ERA in 16 games last season.
