White Sox agree to 1-year deal with utilityman Emilio Bonifacio

Free-agent outfielder/infielder Emilio Bonifacio agreed to a one-year, $4 million deal with the Chicago White Sox, FOX Sports MLB Insider Jon Paul Morosi reported Monday.

Bonifacio, 29, hit .259/.305/.345 with three homers, 24 RBI and 26 stolen bases for the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves in 2014. He was dealt from the Cubs to the Braves on July 31.

Although he played primarily in center field last season, Bonifacio also started games at second base, shortstop, right field and left field.

Bonifacio is a .262 career hitter with 164 stolen bases in eight major-league seasons. He played for Arizona, Washington, Miami, Toronto, Kansas City, the Cubs and Atlanta.

The addition of Bonifacio is the latest move by the busy White Sox, who have acquired or signed right-hander Jeff Samardzija, closer David Robertson, outfielder Melky Cabrera, first baseman Adam LaRoche and reliever Zach Duke this offseason.
