Welington Castillo 'really excited' to start new chapter with Mariners

The Seattle Mariners recently picked up catcher Welington Castillo from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for young reliever Yoervis Medina - and Castillo says he's eager to get going with his new club.
He will be in the lineup making his Seattle debut on Thursday in the finale of a series against the Baltimore Orioles, and the 28-year-old says he's looking forward to the new chapter. As he told Todd Karpovich of MLB.com: "I am ready to go. I'm really excited to be here."
Despite initially being 'shocked' by news of the trade (the kind of thing that happens after being traded away by the only club you've known for your entire career), Castillo's surprise turned to excitement. He admits, though, it will be important to establish a quick rapport with the Mariners' pitching staff: "I think that's the hard part of this," Castillo said. "I'm new. Everybody is new to me. I am going to go out, and maybe during the game, just talk to them to see what they like to do. I want to go with what they feel comfortable."
He'll get his first shot on Thursday, and the Mariners will take a keen interest in seeing just what they have with him behind the plate.
