The Baltimore Orioles have hired 66-year-old Dave Wallace as their pitching coach on Tuesday.

Wallace, who has spent the past four years as Atlanta's minor league pitching coordinator, replaces Rick Adair, who left the Orioles in mid-August for personal reasons.

He's been the pitching coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros. The Red Sox won the World Series with Wallace as pitching coach in 2004. New York went to the World Series in 2000 under Wallace.

Manager Buck Showalter said Wallace's ''track record speaks for itself.''

Adair had been Baltimore's pitching coach since June 2011.

Showalter said Wallace will have input on the selection of a bullpen coach.
