Published Jun. 15, 2015 4:34 a.m. ET

A pair of rookies made their debuts for the Giants over the weekend against the D-backs: 26-year-old outfielder Jarrett Parker and 28-year-old relief pitcher Michael Broadway. Both replaced Giants going on the DL: Gregor Blanco and Hunter Pence.

While Parker went 0 for 3 on Saturday, Broadway struck out one in a scoreless inning of work. Sunday afternoon Parker collected his first major league hit, while Broadway pitched another scoreless inning and struck out two.

After the game Parker spoke about the realization of getting his first big league hit:

“When 41,000 people sit up and clap, it hit me for a second.”
