Minnesota Twins right fielder Michael Cuddyer will miss the next week or two of spring training games after having a wart removed from his left foot.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Tuesday the team doesn't want the painful problem to linger into the regular season. Cuddyer tried to treat the wart himself with medication this winter, but it ended up getting infected.
The longest-tenured player on the team, Cuddyer hit .271 with 14 homers and 81 RBIs in 157 games last season. He moved to first base when Justin Morneau went out with a concussion.
Joe Benson, the Twins' Minor League Player of the Year in 2010, started in right field for Cuddyer in Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox and went 0 for 1 with a walk.
