Triple-A game called off after airline loses team's equipment

Playing baseball is tough under any circumstances. But without equipment and uniforms, it's darn near impossible.

Thurday night, the Tacoma Rainers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, were supposed to play the El Paso Chihuahuas of the San Diego Padres organization in a Pacific Coast League game. But thanks to a travelling gaffe, the game was not played.

The Rainers showed up in El Paso in time for the game and were ready to play. Their luggage, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found. The airline Tacoma used apparently lost the team's baggage, which included uniforms and equipment.

"From your shoes to your glove to your bats, everything that you need to play with is each guy's individual preference," Rainers manager Roy Howell said, via the News Tribune. "The biggest thing is liability and getting someone hurt because he's wearing something that isn't his."

The game was not played Thursday, but was made up as part of a day-night doubleheader Saturday.

Next time, the Rainers might want to choose another airline.
