Trevor Bauer is a mad scientist on the mound -- and his experiments are producing results

Bauer put together another masterful outing Tuesday night, striking out seven while allowing just seven baserunners in 7 1/3 innings in the Tribe's 3-1 victory over the White Sox.

It was Bauer's second brilliant start in a row, but his first win since April 15.

The right-hander has been working hard on perfecting his craft this season and it's finally starting to pay off.

While Bauer has developed an extensive arsenal of pitches, he has zoned in on perfecting four of them this season and it's helped him become more effective and efficient.

"I worked a lot in the offseason on commanding my 'strike' pitches, so basically my four-seam [fastball], my cutter, my changeup and my two-seam [fastball]," Bauer said via ESPN.com. "A lot of times the two-seam and four-seam get grouped as fastballs, but they're two different pitches and I use them very differently. The cutter and the changeup, I try to mix those in evenly."

While Bauer says he's still throwing all of his pitches in-game, he's grown more confident in his changeup, which has given him great results so far this year.

From ESPN.com:

Bauer said that he's still using six pitches in-game, but he's been able to command the ball and get ahead in the count early, allowing him to mix in his changeup and cutter more often. "I think adding the lateral dimension to my game has really helped keep people off-balance," Bauer said via ESPN.com.

So maybe Bauer talks a little bit like a mad scientist when it comes to his in-game approach. Every single pitch he makes is extremely calculated and his dedication to his perfecting craft is unlike any other pitcher in baseball. And that's what makes him so fun to watch.
